I visited Palet Coffee Shop to have a little time away from the house recently and for some much needed coffee made by someone else (yes, it’s a thing). I was sampling Fred Khumalo’s The Longest March, which I’ve now added to my to be read list which is set to 12 books for the Good Reads Reading Challenge – this might change as I’m currently working on my time management.
First Impressions: This quaint space has an outside seating area if you find the secluded tables in the corners occupied. I sat outside to marvel at the water feature at the back and the cool weather. This art gallery turned coffee shop is quite lovely for breakfast or brunch meetings which turn into a wine session later on, you know things can escalate real quick. They have also hosted a few baby showers, and private events for birthdays and such which is a plus because they could host a reading group as well on the outside area. The service is lovely and the ladies don’t disturb for those who come to read, or do a little bit of work while they maintain to check on you from time to time.
The menu offers breakfast and light lunches that are reasonably priced. There’s also cake on sale to have some guilty pleasure with your coffee while you read. They offer take-away service if you’re not into staying in and enjoying your meal in-house but this place is so quiet and serene, one would want to linger just a little bit more.
The art that’s on sale is amazing, I took a walk around and just couldn’t stop gushing at how beautiful the work is. Here’s to wishing for a Lotto win one day 🙂
I would suggest Palet for a friends meeting to catch up on life and have some coffee or even something stronger. Palet is fully licensed and they offer cocktails and sometimes there’s specials. I enjoyed my time reading – I’m sure I stayed for more than an hour and didn’t feel like the staff was intrusive or anything. A spot I’ll return to whenever I want to read uninterrupted.
