I recently visited Soweto Book Cafe, which is nestled in the heart of Soweto. This community book shop has a little of everything for everyone.
There’s a collection of over 500 books that comprises of non-fiction and fiction books. The community contributes to the collection by calling upon the cafe to make a collection of their pre-loved books. Some of the titles are sourced from bookstores.
The Soweto Book Store offers the following services to the community:
- Hosting literature events like storytelling; book club meetings
- Numerology readings
- Chess club meetings
The book shop has a panoramic view of Soweto from it’s balcony and ample space for a meeting of any kind.
